Tanabe Geopark Society

    田辺ジオパーク研究会は、田辺の自然・歴史・文化・産業など、多くの資源について学び、また、災害･防災についても深く理解しながら、次世代への持続的な発展に役立ちたいという願いから2015年2月 に発足しました。
    田辺の地形や地質を中心とした大地「ジオ」(近隣域含む)と、それにまつわる人々との関係を学習し研究することを目指しています。
    現在、田辺市は、旧田辺・龍神・大塔・中辺路・本宮が合併し、合計1,027km²。近畿最大面積を有する市となっています。
    毎月の見学会や定例会には、田辺市以外の会員も参加しています。 今後は、更に多方面の視野も含み、私たちの「田辺ジオパーク」について併せて活動を進めて参ります。

TANABE GEOPARK STUDY GROUP started in February, 2015, with the purpose of learning and gaining a deep understanding of many resources related to nature, history, culture, industry and disaster prevention in Tanabe City, and in the hope of being of some help to the sustainable development of them down the generations. The main point of the study lies in the research of the relations between the earth (Geo) highlighting topography and geological features in the city or its neighboring areas, and the people who have been living in it.
   At present, Tanabe City, which completed the merger of former Tanabe City, Ryujin Village, Ohto Village, Nakaheji Town and Hongu Town, has the largest city area in the Kinki District, of 1,027 square kilometers. The Kinki District is in the south central part of the main island of Japan. We have a monthly on-site study and an indoor meeting and accept anyone from neighboring areas. From now on, we would like to proceed with our TANABE GEOPARK in consideration of the many viewpoints from various fields.
